New Season, New Rules: Mini Soccer Updates for 2024/25

As we gear up for the upcoming 2024/25 season, we wanted to inform you about some important changes to the rules for Mini Soccer at the U7, U8, and U9 levels. These updates are designed to enhance the safety and enjoyment of the game for our young players.

There are two really big changes to understand, especially for our amazing volunteer parent referees among you.

Phasing Out Heading:

U7 to U9: Starting this season, deliberate heading of the ball will be phased out in all matches. If a player deliberately heads the ball, the opposing team will be awarded an indirect free kick from the spot where the header occurred. If the header happens within the player’s own penalty area, the free kick will be taken from the nearest point on the penalty area line.

Changes to Throw-Ins:
U7 to U9: Traditional throw-ins will be replaced with pass-ins or dribble-ins. When the ball goes out of play over the touchline, players can either pass or dribble the ball back into play from the touchline. This change aims to create more technical opportunities for players with the ball at their feet and reduce the amount of time the ball is in the air during a match.
